David N. McGruder
David
McGruder is a solo practitioner with offices in lower
Manhattan. David specializes in Criminal, Employment, and
Entertainment law.
David worked as an Assistant District
Attorney in the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office for
five years. David was quickly promoted to the Violent
Felony Bureau where he tried numerous cases, including
murders, robberies, and serious assaults. |

David was
also appointed by Bronx County District Attorney Robert
Johnson to the Bias Unit, which was responsible for
prosecuting hate crimes. In the spring of 2001, David
received the Community Service Award from the District
Attorney, recognizing him for his extensive work in the
community. |
|
|
|
David then
went on to work for the law firm Koehler & Isaacs, LLP,
where he handled numerous employment, labor, administrative
and criminal cases. At Koehler & Isaacs, David was a strong
advocate on behalf of his clients who were most often
everyday working people up against large employers. David
has handled hundreds of labor and administrative matters and
has tried over fifty cases at the New York City Office of
Administrative Trials and Hearings. |

David also
handles entertainment matters, including drafting and
reviewing contracts, obtaining copyrights and trademarks,
and helping to enforce the rights of artists. |

|
|
David
currently appears regularly on Court TV as a commentator
offering expert legal commentary on cases being broadcast on
the national cable network. |
|
|
|
David
earned a J.D. from the University of Southern California (U.S.C.)
Law School, where he was president of the Black Law Students
Association and served on the Student Faculty Selection
Committee. While in law school, David worked for the Los
Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and the Los
Angeles County Public Defender’s Office. |

|
|
David
earned his B.A. from Howard University in Washington, D.C.,
where he studied Political Science and History and was
placed on the Dean’s list for academic excellence. While at
Howard University, he interned with the late Congressman
Julian Dixon on Capitol Hill. David also interned with the
lobbying firm Cassidy & Associates, which lobbied Congress
on numerous issues such as lead paint abatement and funding
for university research projects. |

While at
Howard University David also took part in several charity
endeavors. He worked at Martha’s Table, a well known soup
kitchen, and helped develop the after school program for
children of the homeless. |
